BBVA Compass expands Bama® Banking, further tapping into Tide fans' enthusiasm

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass announced today it is expanding its University of Alabama-branded Bama® Banking checking and savings accounts, further tapping into fans' desires to express their Crimson Tide pride through everyday activities.
Bama Banking initially offered a Crimson Tide Check Card tied to any BBVA Compass consumer checking account, allowing fans to show their pride every time they swiped. Now, the product also includes Bama Checking, Bama Savings and team-branded internet and mobile banking services. Combined with access to the nationwide surcharge-free Allpoint® ATM network, Bama Banking allows customers to conduct almost any banking transaction without visiting a branch.

Bama Banking can be accessed online or with a smartphone using the bank's mobile app, which allows eligible users to upload a photo of a check to make a deposit. It is the latest product built on BBVA Compass' core technology system, which provides the integration required to support a wholly digital banking product.
Similar to BBVA Compass' NBA Banking, which has generated customers from the fan bases of all 30 NBA teams and from each state in the continental U.S. since its 2013 launch, Bama Checking offers online games and rewards for setting up direct deposits, making Check Card purchases and using Online and Mobile Bill Pay. The account has no monthly Service Charge and allows for one in-branch deposit and a total of three checks and in-branch withdrawals per month at no additional charge.
The bank will introduce the new Bama Banking accounts at the University of Alabama's 2014 A-Day Spring Football Game on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium. BBVA Compass team members will be joined by former Tide football players Antonio Langham, Andrew Zow and Chris Rogers, who will sign autographs at the bank's tent.
Bama Banking is the latest alliance between BBVA Compass, its parent company, BBVA, and sports that have global appeal and highlight teamwork and fair play.
