Professional Experience and Responsibilities
Gabriel Sánchez Iniesta was appointed chief information officer for BBVA Compass in August 2013. He is responsible for defining the best direction for the company’s overall information technology strategy in order to optimally support the needs of BBVA Compass’ lines of business. He directly oversees application systems, telecommunications and systems operations. Sánchez Iniesta also manages operations for the bank, including central operations, loan operations, item processing and trust operations, as well as corporate security and transformation coordination.
Sánchez Iniesta is a member of the BBVA Compass Management Committee and reports directly to CEO Onur Genç.
Sánchez Iniesta began working with BBVA Group in 1997 and has held various positions in the IT division, including chief architecture officer and head of multichannel technologies. Before joining BBVA Group, he worked for Accenture Consulting for seven years, participating in several banking systems installations.
Sánchez Iniesta earned a degree in business and administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and completed the executive education program at IESE in Madrid.
