Money magazine gave BBVA Compass top nods for the best regional bank in the South and West and best mobile app in its annual Best Banks in America 2015-16 feature.
According to the magazine, the bank’s ClearChoice Premium checking account and ClearChoice money market account made it the winner among other regional banks, while the BBVA Compass Mobile Banking App won for its broad array of capabilities and user-friendly interface that anticipates customers’ needs. The app has become a standard-bearer — it is a two-time winner of Javelin Strategy & Research’s Mobile Banking Leader in Functionality Award — and underscores BBVA Compass’ drive to stay in front of the digital transformation sweeping the industry.
The dual recognitions from Money also give weight to BBVA Compass’ brand promise to provide clear and convenient solutions that help clients stay in control of their financial lives.
“This national recognition shows we are making significant strides in our goal to be the bank of choice across our footprint,” said BBVA Compass Chairman and CEO Manolo Sánchez. “We are listening to our customers and anticipating their needs, and in this case the result is a mobile app that leads the industry.”
In giving the bank its best mobile app award, Money identified what it called essential capabilities, like confirmation of account balances and recent transactions, remote check deposit, alerts, ATM/branch locator, bill payment, and free peer-to-peer transfers. Money also recognized several ways the app makes life easy for customers, specifically its mobile deposit auto photo feature. The publication also conducted a demo of the app to ensure ease of use.
The bank’s ClearChoice Premium checking account was a winner, the magazine said, thanks to its offer of interest and two out-of-network ATM reimbursements. The money market account of the same name won Money reporters over for its competitive interest rate on balances of $10,000 or more.
